ORIGIN - Wangaratta, Australia
Developed in the 1920s in Kyoto, Houjicha is roasted (in a tea oven or pot called a Hoji) instead of steamed like other Japanese green teas. Our tea is grown and processed traditionally to Japanese standards, in Wangaratta, Victoria.
We recommend pairing some Murakami novel and some hearty Oyakodon... look it up, it's delicious.
Full of toasty, umami notes, Houjicha is dominated by an unmistakable honey like character with hints of almond and stone fruits and a whiskey like finish.
